SATELLITE EARRINGS - PROJECT SHEET
Light and comfortable, these satellite earrings are a really versatile and adaptable design. You’ll learn good torch control and improve your precision and accuracy when soldering. As well as forming the body of the earring, you’ll learn how to make silver balls and discs (also called granules) from scrap silver or wire. Once you've completed the earrings make a pendant to match.
To complete this project you will need:
MATERIALS
1.2mm or 1.5mm round silver wire - approx 100mm
Scrap silver or extra 1.5mm wire
Small jump rings - bought or make your own
Ready made hooks or 0.8mm fully hard wire
TOOL KIT ESSENTIALSSoldering kit with hard and easy solder
Planishing hammer and anvil or steel block
Hide or plastic mallet
Piercing saw and 2/0 blades
Cutting pliers (optional)
Half round file or a flat file and a round file. Cut 2
Emery papers - 800 grit and 1200 grit are ideal
Sanding sticks (optional)
Flat nose and round nose / half round pliers
Ring mandrel
Polishing media of your choice
