Sand Casting: Found Objects - 1st February
Explore sand casting from found objects in this introductory workshop. Find out what objects will create a good mould and how to prepare them for the casting process. Learn how to prepare and create a mould and melt down silver to create the cast. Create a few different casts and to finish a piece to wear if you choose to.
We will have a selection of suitable objects available for you to use but you are welcome to bring your own. Not all small items are suitable for the process so we can't guarentee we will use your objects. How to select and prepare suitable items will be covered in the class.
Price includes 15g of sterling silver casting grain. More will be available to buy on the day or you are welcome to bring your own.

CLASS DESCRIPTION
Who is this class suitable for?
Improvers and more experienced jewellers. Those with some basic silver smithing skills will get more from this class and have more scope for refining and finishing their casts.
What will I make?
Some sand cast sample pieces. You will have to option to finish one or more of your pieces on the day depending on time.
What will I learn?
You'll learn to select suitbale objects to cast from and how to prepare them for the process. You''l learn how to prepare and create the mould from sand and to melt and pour sterling silver to create the cast. You'll learn some basic finishing techniques and to add a jump ring to make a wearable piece if you choose to.
What is included?
All tools and equipment are provided. 15g sterling silver casting grain is included with more available to buy on the day.
