RIVET SET BEAD RING- PROJECT SHEET

A simple rivet setting allows you to showcase a beautiful bead as the centre piece of a ring. This method can be used for any type of gemstone or glass bead. Create something small and delicate or a big shiny showstopper. 

 

To complete this project you will need:

 

MATERIALS

• Wire or sheet silver or gold to create your ring shank. The shank must support the bead setting so nothing too flimsy. The example shown uses 2mm round silver wire

• Bead of your choice

• Fine tube with an outer diameter to match the hole the in the bead, It must fit through the hole without being loose.


TOOL KIT ESSENTIALS

• Piercing saw, bench peg and saw blades. 4/0 would be perfect, 2/0 would be fine for cutting the shape

• Flat and round or half round needle files

• Ring bending pliers

• Ring mandrel

• Wood, plastic or hide mallet

• Soldering kit

• Scribe or other pointy tool

• Small ball pein or riveting hammer

• Polish and finishing media
