March / April Six Week Level Two course - Tuesday mornings

This six week, Tuesday morning, course will build and enhance your jewellery skills and give you the space, time and confidence to work on your own designs. This term the focus of our level two course is Surfaces and Finishes.
 
Our level two course leads on from our Level One and Continuous Provision courses. All our level two courses broaden your skills and knowledge and allow you the opportunity to put them into practice in your own designs. Focused tuition and demonstrations with time to put those new techniques into practice combined with supported making time where you are free to continue working on those focus skills and methods or to explore other areas.
 
The focus of our level two course changes each time it runs, allowing you to learn and utilise a broader range of skills and technqiues and gain a deeper uinderstanding and mastery of those skills.
 
The February / March level two course will have a focus on surafces and finishing. You'll explore cheicmal patination on silver, copper and brass, a variety of simple and more advanced texturing methods, heat texturing including reticulation and dust fusing and an a deep dive into polishing and finishing using hand tools, pendant motors and rotary tools and buffing machines.

CLASS DESCRIPTION
Who is this class suitable for?
Intermediate to advanced level makers. You must have completed our level one course or equivalent to take this course. If you aren't sure if you are ready for this course please get in touch for advice. You need to be familiar with using  a jewellers saw, basic hand tools and soldering equipment. 
What will I make?
The course focuses on teaching you skills and techniques which you can apply to you own projects and designs. What you make is up to you. Most students make a range of samples and experiements and go on to create their own designs using what they have learnt.
What will I learn?
You'll experiment with chemical and patination formula, a variety of ways to add texture such as burrs, roll printing, stamping, dust fusing, reticulation and avanced finsihgin methods to create a high shine, matte and brushed finishes.   
What is included?
All tools and equipment are provided.  Please provide your own silver or purchase it at the class.
