January/February Wax Carving Course - Tuesday evenings
This course is suitable for learners with no wax carving experience or those who have been on the beginers course. You will learn to carve, shape and refine a wax model ready to be cast into solid silver. Wax is beautiful to carve into and will readily take bold or subtle textures or polish to a smooth finish. The wax masters will then be sent to a professional precious metals casting company. You'll learn how to how to fettle, refine and finish your castings into beautiful pieces of jewellery.

CLASS DESCRIPTION
Who is this class suitable for?
Complete beginners, more experienced jewellers and those with some wax carving experience
What will I make?
You will make a selection of carved wax pieces to your own design.
What will I learn?
You will learn how to work with hand and power tools to carve and shape the jewellers wax. How to achieve a good finish for casting and the tolerances and materials specifcations. You will learn advanced techniques to improve and enhance the quality of your wax carving. You will recieve detailed information on sending your waxes off for casting.
What is included?
All tools, equipment and wax carving materials are provided. Casting of your waxes into silver is charged at cost. The price depends on the size and number of pieces you make.
