Introduction To Silver-Smithing - 11th January
A taster workshop in the silver smithing basics. Try your hand at the foundations skills of saw piercing, filing, soldering, shaping, texturing and polishing to make a sample copper token and a beautiful and wearable piece of silver jewellery.

What will I make?
In this class that depends on you!! The class aims to teach you the basics of silversmithing - what you do with them is up to you.
You'll practice the basic techniques and make a simple copper token which could become a pendant or keyring if you choose to. You'll then be supported to choose a design to make a ring, bangle, pendant or earrings to put your skills into silver.
Some students come with a particular item they would like to make, some just want to have a go and try out the different techinques. Please use the message box to let us know if there is something you would particularly like to make or learn. And, don't worry if you don't know what you want to make - we have plenty of simple project sheets for you to follow too.
What will I learn?
You will learn some of the basics of silversmithing. We focus on how to cut, solder, texture and finish silver. We'll explore saw piercing, hammering, roll printing, stamping, forming, soldering, fiing, sanding, polishing and more.
The morning is spent learning about the tools and materials in the workshop and planning and designing your project. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to create you own wearable piece to be proud of.
What is included?
All tools and equipment are provided. Your class fee includes £20 of silver to get you started with more available to purchase on the day if required.
